Glo-Sponsored CNN African Voices Features Patoranking, Derrick Cobinnah

African Voices, the globally renowned 30-minute magazine programme sponsored by Globacom on CNN International, is set to spotlight two distinguished African personalities—Nigeria’s Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall sensation, Patoranking, and Ghanaian humanitarian Derrick Cobinnah.

Patoranking, whose real name is Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, will share his compelling journey from the slums of Lagos to international stardom. Born on May 27, 1990, and raised in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Patoranking grew up in a modest household, sharing a single room with his parents and five siblings. His rise to fame began as a street performer before breaking into the Nigerian music industry, where he became one of the most successful Afrobeats artists.

Over the years, Patoranking has garnered multiple prestigious awards, including The Headies, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, and MTV Africa Music Awards, with hit albums such as God Over Everything (2016), Wilmer (2019), Three (2020), and World Best (2023). His influence extends beyond music, as in 2014, he was appointed a regional goodwill ambassador for Africa by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in recognition of his efforts to empower African youth and foster enterprise development.

Derrick Cobinnah, the second guest on the show, is a Ghanaian humanitarian and President of the Ghana-Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (GHANJACC). He is widely celebrated for his work with war veterans through his organization, Forces Help Africa, which provides support to sick, injured, displaced, and destitute veterans in Ghana. His initiative has earned him recognition for his dedication to improving the lives of those who have served their nations in uniform.

The latest edition of African Voices premiered on Saturday on DSTV Channel 401, with repeat broadcasts scheduled for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. and Monday at 4:00 a.m. The show continues to provide a platform for African change-makers, showcasing inspiring stories of resilience, impact, and excellence across the continent.
