In the emotional interview, Darasimi revealed how unknown scammers used her identity to commit fraud, leading to public backlash and her detention for 22 days. Her name and photos were linked to an online post about selling new Naira notes—a post she had no connection to. “Imagine being afraid to leave your house,” she said, describing the intense psychological impact.
Despite multiple failed attempts to get justice, a recent breakthrough came when one of the impersonators was arrested. “I broke down in tears. It was unbelievable,” she recalled.
Darasimi believes her public profile made her a target, and she’s calling for stronger awareness about cybercrime and identity theft, especially against female celebrities. “I want people to stop believing lies about me. I’m not the criminal—I’m the victim,” she stated.
