Sanwo-Olu Appoints Oladipupo Oluwaloni as Acting Chairman Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Oladipupo Oluwaloni as the Acting Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) following the prolonged absence of the substantive chairman, Bolatito Shobowale.
Shobowale has reportedly been away from office for over six months due to health challenges, and despite efforts to facilitate her return, governance at the council has faced setbacks.
Sources revealed that the governor’s decision was influenced by concerns over an emerging financial crisis within the LCDA, particularly the inability of the chairman to present the 2025 budget before the council lawmakers as required by law. Additionally, it was discovered that budget-related documents had been prepared without the Vice Chairman’s input, as Shobowale had delegated council affairs to the Council Manager instead of officially handing them over to the Vice Chairman.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Lagos recommended the intervention to ensure that ongoing projects in the LCDA continue without financial constraints.
To formalize the transition, the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Bolaji Roberts, issued an official letter on Tuesday, directing Oluwaloni to assume office immediately to ensure smooth operations.
The decision was further facilitated by the Lagos State APC chapter, led by its chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, to maintain administrative stability and effective governance at the grassroots level.
Reacting to his appointment, Oluwaloni expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the party leadership for their trust and support. He pledged to prioritize the welfare of Ayobo-Ipaja residents and ensure continuity in governance.
“This is a great responsibility, and I am fully committed to upholding the trust placed in me. My focus will be on ensuring that governance at the grassroots remains effective, responsive, and aligned with the developmental agenda of our great state,” Oluwaloni stated.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the development, expressing confidence that the new leadership will bring stability and progress to the LCDA.
With his immediate assumption of office, all eyes will be on Oluwaloni as he steers Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA toward enhanced service delivery and community development.
