He emphasized that community policing remains one of the most effective strategies for combating insecurity, as it encourages active citizen participation in security management and creates a bridge of trust between law enforcement agencies and the public.
The discussions also centered on the implementation and expansion of the National Safe Schools Initiative, a critical intervention designed to protect schools, students, teachers, and educational infrastructure from security threats. The delegation highlighted the importance of involving communities, traditional institutions, youth groups, and relevant stakeholders in ensuring that schools remain safe and conducive environments for learning.
Speaking during the meeting, members of the delegation stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the PCRC and the Nigeria Police Force in addressing emerging security concerns, particularly those affecting vulnerable communities and educational institutions.
In his response, the Inspector-General of Police commended the PCRC leadership for its unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and acknowledged the critical role the organization continues to play in strengthening community policing across the country.
The IGP reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to working closely with the PCRC and other stakeholders in advancing security initiatives that promote peace, stability, and national development. He also welcomed the emphasis placed on school safety, describing the protection of educational institutions as a national priority that requires collective action and sustained collaboration.
