The Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Bibi Oduku, has assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force is working tirelessly to maintain peace and security across all security-challenged areas of the country.
Comrade Bibi Oduku stated that the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, is a dedicated leader who works closely with the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector-General of Police to strengthen security measures and protect citizens from various security threats across the nation.
The PCRC National Chairman has called on communities to intensify intelligence sharing, remain vigilant, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities involving strangers or even members of their own communities.
According to the PCRC National Chairman, security agencies cannot effectively combat crime without credible information from members of the public. He noted that community-based intelligence remains a critical tool in identifying kidnappers’ hideouts, terrorist operations, and criminal networks. He further emphasized that some informants and collaborators of criminal elements often reside within communities, making public cooperation essential.
He commended the recent successes recorded by the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces in identifying, apprehending, and neutralizing kidnappers and terrorists across the country, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between citizens and security agencies will further enhance peace and security in Nigeria.
Comrade Bibi Oduku also urged media organizations and members of the public to refrain from spreading fake news and unverified information capable of undermining the efforts of security agencies or causing unnecessary panic among citizens.
He encouraged anyone with useful information regarding security challenges in their communities to report such information to the nearest police station or contact members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) within their locality. Such timely information, he said, would enable security agencies to respond proactively and prevent situations from escalating.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the office of the National Chairman of the PCRC remains open to receive communications from members of the public. He added that a special information and feedback centre will soon be established to enable citizens to share their observations, concerns, suggestions, and experiences relating to the Nigeria Police Force, the PCRC, and security matters generally.
Comrade Bibi Oduku reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and called on all Nigerians to play their part in promoting peace, stability, and development across the country.
Signed:
Comrade Bibi Oduku
