Olajide Ayinde Alimi Falana: A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication (1946–2024)

The life and legacy of Olajide Ayinde Alimi Falana, also known as MBC, who passed away on October 10, 2024, at the age of 78, is one marked by service, wisdom, and dedication. Born on April 26, 1946, Falana was not just a devoted family man but a pioneer in local politics and a leader who shaped his community and the lives of those around him.

His son, Owolabi Jamiu Falana, MNIIA, MNIM, reflects on his father’s lasting influence. Sharing the same birthday, they spent years celebrating together, reflecting on life, family, and values. “My father’s commitment to my academic success helped me excel in school,” Owolabi notes, recalling how Falana provided specialized tutors to ensure his success.

As a political leader, Falana’s career spanned multiple platforms, from the defunct GDM to Afenifere Unity Forum, Alliance for Democracy, Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and the APC. He served as the pioneer Vice Chairman of the APC in Mushin Local Government, a role he held with honor and integrity. His dedication to public service was not just a profession but a calling, shaping both his community and his family.

Falana’s wisdom extended beyond politics; his advice shaped major life decisions for his family, including Owolabi’s decision to return to Nigeria after university abroad. His foresight was a constant guide, even in his final days, where he ensured his family’s future would be secure.

Owolabi remembers his father’s uncanny ability to sense events before they happened, including his own passing. This foresight allowed the family to prepare and make decisions that would carry them forward. In his final moments, Falana exemplified what it means to be a father, always thinking of the well-being of his family.

The legacy of Olajide Ayinde Alimi Falana is one of wisdom, leadership, and a deep sense of duty to both family and community. His impact will be felt for generations, as his family carries his memory forward.

Falana’s remarkable life and contributions to both his community and his family have left an indelible mark. He is remembered not only as a political figure but as a father whose guidance, foresight, and wisdom shaped the lives of many.

Rest in peace, Pa Olajide Ayinde Alimi Falana. You have left a legacy that time cannot erase, and your memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew you.

Hon. Owolabi Jamiu Falana, MNIIA, MNIM
