Governor Adeleke Raises Alarm Over Security Threat in Osun, Accuses Oyetola of Instigating Unrest

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns over an alleged security threat in the state, claiming that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola is orchestrating plans to destabilize the peace. The governor made the statement via his official Twitter account, sparking widespread reactions from social media users.

In his tweet, Adeleke accused Oyetola, who is currently the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, of issuing illegal directives to security operatives in a bid to enforce “illegality.” He further alleged that Oyetola, as a nephew to President Bola Tinubu, is using his influence to manipulate security forces in Osun State.

“I, however, regret to inform Mr. President and the public that Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has concluded an arrangement to cause mayhem in Osun State starting from Monday. He is issuing illegal directives to security operatives to enforce illegality simply because he is the nephew of Mr. President. I chose to alert the nation before my people are killed or maimed by a minister dropping the name of Mr. President in connivance with the Osun State security operatives obeying unlawful orders,” Adeleke tweeted.

His statement has triggered mixed reactions online, with some social media users expressing concern over the security situation in Osun, while others dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.

A Twitter user, @TundeWrites, commented: “This is a serious allegation! The security agencies should investigate immediately to prevent any crisis in Osun.”

Another user, @RealOsunVoice, countered: “Governor Adeleke should focus on governance instead of playing the victim. These allegations need proof.”

Supporters of the governor have called on President Tinubu to intervene and ensure that Osun remains peaceful. Others, however, believe the statement is an attempt to preempt possible actions against the state government.

As of press time, neither Oyetola nor the Presidency has responded to the allegations. Security agencies in Osun are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
