PRESIDENT Tinubu Commends Nigerian Youth’s Potential during Mastercard Foundation Meeting

In a recent gathering with the Mastercard Foundation, President Bola Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s responsibility as a leader in Africa and commended the country’s vibrant youth population for their readiness to contribute to the global economy. Tinubu highlighted the importance of leadership in harnessing the potential of the youth.

Acknowledging the Mastercard Foundation’s focus on digitization, President Tinubu recognized technology as a crucial tool against corruption. He expressed commitment to collaborating with the foundation, assuring the removal of impediments and emphasizing the necessity of building the youth’s hope on a foundation of sustainable growth.

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, praised the Mastercard Foundation’s significant impact on human capital development in Nigeria. He highlighted the foundation’s prudent approach to utilizing its $40 billion assets, particularly in promoting social intervention and health service delivery reforms.

Mastercard Foundation CEO, Ms. Reeta Roy, briefed President Tinubu on the foundation’s goal to impact 30 million young Africans by 2030, with a focus on education and financial inclusion in Nigeria. She reported progress on the ‘Young Africa Work Strategy,’ stating that 2.1 million young Nigerians are already engaged in dignified work. Additionally, she emphasized the foundation’s ongoing efforts in the healthcare sector to contribute to the country’s economic landscape.

President Tinubu expressed optimism about the collaboration, underlining the importance of nurturing the youth and achieving sustainable growth across various sectors of the economy. The Mastercard Foundation’s commitment to empowering young Africans aligns with Nigeria’s vision for a prosperous future.
