In a blend of grassroots empowerment and political aspiration, Engr. Luqmaan Kehinde Akerele (LOK) has officially declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikeja Constituency 1 seat in 2027 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration was made during the 2026 edition of the LOK TraderMoni empowerment programme, held at Olusosun Primary School, located before Ojota Garage when approaching from Oregun.
This year’s edition of the initiative was specially dedicated to widows across the eight zones of the Olusosun community, in commemoration of International Women’s Day. The programme witnessed the distribution of cash grants aimed at supporting small-scale businesses and improving the economic stability of vulnerable women.
Speaking at the event, community leader Alhaji Semiu Yusuf commended Engr. Akerele’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development. He noted that LOK’s consistent impact in the community has been achieved without reliance on public funds or prior political appointments.

“His doggedness and dedication to community service are evident. If he can achieve this much without holding public office, one can only imagine the transformation he will bring when given the opportunity,” Yusuf stated.
In his remarks, Engr. Akerele reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive representation and sustainable development. He emphasized that his vision for Ikeja Constituency 1 centers on people-oriented policies, economic empowerment, and responsive governance.
He further called on residents and stakeholders to support his ambition, pledging to build on his track record of service and deliver effective representation at the state assembly.
The LOK TraderMoni initiative continues to stand as a symbol of community-driven development, reflecting a model where leadership is defined not just by ambition, but by tangible impact at the grassroots level.
