Nigeria Congratulates Rwanda on Independence Anniversary, Reaffirms Commitment to Bilateral Ties
The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Rwanda on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, celebrating the East African nation’s remarkable journey of resilience, peacebuilding, and socio-economic transformation.
In a statement released by the **Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed warm greetings to His Excellency Olivier Nduhungirehe, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and to the government and people of Rwanda.
“The Independence anniversary certainly marks a significant milestone in Rwanda’s history, symbolizing resilience, progress, and the enduring spirit of the Rwandan people,” Ambassador Tuggar noted in the release.
He further lauded Rwanda’s transformational strides under the visionary leadership of President Paul Kagame, praising the country’s dedication to peace, innovation, and leadership in both regional and global affairs.
Nigeria, the statement emphasized, deeply values the strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. As fellow members of the African Union and the Commonwealth of Nations, both countries share a mutual vision for African unity, prosperity, and sustainable development.
The Minister reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Rwanda, particularly in strategic areas such as trade, technology, governance, and development, and expressed optimism for deeper collaboration in the years ahead.
“On this joyous occasion, we reaffirm Nigeria’s solidarity with Rwanda and look forward to continued collaboration in advancing peace, sustainable development, and pan-African prosperity,” the statement concluded.
