CGC Adeniyi Hosts NLNG Delegation, Pledges Strengthened Collaboration

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has reiterated the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) commitment to bolstering its partnership with Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to support the nation’s economic development.

This assurance came during a courtesy visit by a delegation from NLNG, led by its Managing Director, Philip Mshelbila, to the NCS Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Welcoming the delegation, CGC Adeniyi expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing the significance of the enduring collaboration between the NCS and NLNG. “Your organization’s contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector are invaluable,” he remarked. “We deeply value this productive partnership and are fully committed to sustaining it in pursuit of our shared goal of fostering national growth and development.”

Adeniyi also praised NLNG for its proactive engagement and dedication to regulatory compliance, underscoring the importance of such collaboration in ensuring the smooth functioning of the nation’s trade and economic systems. “It is commendable that your organization not only approaches the Nigeria Customs Service when challenges arise but also takes the initiative to visit us out of courtesy. This reflects the mutual respect and understanding that form the foundation of our relationship,” he noted.

In response, NLNG Managing Director Philip Mshelbila expressed his appreciation for the warm reception extended by the CGC and his team. He reaffirmed NLNG’s commitment to continuing its partnership with the NCS for the benefit of Nigeria’s economy. “We at NLNG recognize the crucial role the Nigeria Customs Service plays in facilitating trade and ensuring the smooth operation of our activities. Our relationship has been one of mutual benefit, and we remain dedicated to working together to promote Nigeria’s economic well-being,” Mshelbila stated.

He further highlighted the unwavering support NLNG has received from the NCS, adding that the visit underscores their desire to maintain and deepen this collaboration. “We believe our joint efforts significantly contribute to the nation’s development,” he said.
