
A bold step towards community development and public engagement, the Lagos State Council Chairmen Wives Association (LASCCWA) convened at the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA main hall for a meeting and impactful empowerment program. The event, co-hosted by the Chairpersons of Mushin Local Government, Mrs. Bamigboye, and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Mrs. Muhibat Omokehinde Ajala, highlighted the association’s unwavering commitment to uplifting residents and supporting their husbands’ efforts in delivering on electoral promises.
Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA,Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, graced the event as the special guest, using the platform to remind LASCCWA members of their vital role in fostering good governance. He emphasized the need for perseverance, innovative ideas, and collective support, encouraging the Chairpersons to stand firmly by their husbands in fulfilling their mandates to the people.
“Behind every successful leader is a strong support system. LASCCWA’s work goes beyond charity—it is about sustaining the trust people have placed in their leaders,” Ajala said.
The highlight of the program was the series of empowerment initiatives aimed at boosting economic independence and skill development for residents. Mrs. Bamigboye presented sewing machines and cash grants to beneficiaries, while Mrs. Ajala distributed Home Economics equipment, additional cash support, and items for special needs schools — a thoughtful move reflecting the association’s inclusivity and compassion.
Among the beneficiaries were Ms. Nimota Tiamiyu, Mrs. Shakirat, and Mrs. Alice, who expressed profound gratitude for the support. They lauded the chairpersons for their generosity, offering prayers for continued success and divine favor for both the givers and their spouses.
“I never expected this, but it will go a long way in helping me set up my tailoring business,” said Ms. Tiamiyu, holding her new sewing machine.
The event drew notable dignitaries, including Vice Chairman Hon. Seyi Jakande, Leader of the Legislative Arm Hon. Rilwan Ola Ajenifuja, Secretary Hon. Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola, and other local government officials, all of whom commended LASCCWA’s proactive steps in promoting grassroots development.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Ajala expressed gratitude to her husband, Hon. Ajala, for his unwavering support, while urging him to relay the importance of continued backing for LASCCWA initiatives to his fellow Chairmen.
“Our work is far from over. We need all hands on deck to build a stronger, more empowered community,” she noted.
The LASCCWA empowerment program not only showcased the dedication of Mushin LG and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA to community growth but also reinforced the power of strategic collaboration between leadership and public engagement.
