Dr. Bello Matawalle’s Homecoming Sparks Hope Optimism in Zamfara
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle MON, returned to Zamfara State on Friday, December 20, 2024, via a road journey aimed at inspiring confidence in the security forces and citizens. The former governor’s arrival was celebrated by over 50,000 supporters and All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful, lining the streets to honor his ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region.
Dr. Matawalle’s decision to travel by road along the Funtua-Sokoto Highway, a route previously plagued by insecurity, highlighted his commitment to supporting Nigerian soldiers. The Minister commended their bravery and quick response in curbing kidnappings and neutralizing bandit kingpins, which has restored peace to Zamfara and neighboring states.
Upon arrival at Yankara, a border town between Zamfara and Katsina States, jubilant youths and APC supporters greeted Dr. Matawalle with praise songs, celebrating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the Minister’s transformative security efforts.
The atmosphere was festive as Dr. Matawalle engaged with residents and sympathized with victims of past security challenges in Gusau, the state capital, emphasizing his dedication to community welfare. The absence of the current state governor, Dauda Lawal, underscored political tensions but did not diminish the enthusiasm of the people.
Dr. Matawalle’s homecoming reaffirmed his role as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the potential of collaborative leadership to foster peace and security in Zamfara and Nigeria at large.
