Popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has publicly rebuked Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi for criticizing her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, over social media posts shared with her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.

The drama unfolded after Kimambi advised Priscilla to stop posting “loved-up” photos and videos with Juma Jux on social media until after Tanzania’s general elections. The suggestion was interpreted by Iyabo as an attempt to intimidate and silence her daughter.

In a strongly worded Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo slammed Kimambi for her “audacity” and labeled the criticism as “unacceptable.” She defended Priscilla’s freedom of expression, stressing that her daughter was raised to be confident and authentic, not swayed by fear or public pressure.

“@mangekimambi80 I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner… and trying to drum fear and intimidation is unacceptable,” Iyabo wrote. “The Mkambala are very peaceful, but note that I don’t joke with my daughter.”

Iyabo also addressed rumors alleging that the Tanzanian government sponsored the couple’s wedding, clarifying that the event was solely funded by the bride’s family in accordance with cultural tradition.

“It’s not your government that gave us money,” she emphasized. “I wanted an elaborate wedding for my daughter in Nigeria, and we, the Nigerians, gave her one.”

In her post, Iyabo Ojo further affirmed her commitment to activism and principled leadership, noting that while she may be outspoken, she does not engage in insults or cyberbullying.

“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when, and how she likes. She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well-loved. We protect our own. Never forget that.”

The exchange has since stirred intense reactions online, with fans and observers split over the propriety of Kimambi’s advice and Iyabo’s fierce response.

As the digital buzz grows, one thing is clear: Iyabo Ojo will not back down when it comes to protecting her daughter’s freedom and dignity.
