Sanwo-Olu to Commission Network of Roads in Ikeja, Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to inaugurate a series of road projects, further reinforcing his administration’s commitment to delivering modern infrastructure across the state.

The governor will officially open five roads in the Ikeja Government Reservation Area (GRA) on Friday, January 10, 2025, as well as six major roads spanning 4.7 kilometers across Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

This was disclosed in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

Details of the Projects:

The roads to be commissioned in Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada include:

– St. Finbarr’s Road

– Asani Street

– Tijani Ashogbon Street

– Jagunmolu Street

– Shogbamu Street

– Diya Street

These roads, measuring a total of 4.7 kilometers, connect the University of Lagos Main Gate in Akoka to the Deeper Life Church in Gbagada.

In Ikeja GRA, five strategic roads spanning 6.134 kilometers will be unveiled:

– Oba Dosumu Street

– Oduduwa Way

– Oduduwa Crescent

– Sobo Arobiodu Street

– Sasegbon Street

These roads feature an improved drainage network designed to address the area’s long-standing flooding issues.

The new roads are expected to ease transportation, improve connectivity, and boost the quality of life for Lagosians. The projects align with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader agenda of upgrading old infrastructure and building new ones to meet the demands of the state’s growing population.

Speaking on the initiative, Omotoso urged residents to cooperate with the government in preserving the newly constructed roads. “We appeal to Lagosians to remain observant and ensure that these roads are not vandalized,” he said.

The commissioning of these roads reaffirms the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure in Lagos. Residents have been assured that more developmental projects are underway, fulfilling the governor’s promise of a modern, accessible, and efficient transportation network across the state.

Event Schedule

– Friday, January 10, 2025:Opening of 6.134km of roads in Ikeja GRA.
