Police Arrest 60-Year-Old Man for Alleged Rape of 24-Year-Old Woman in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 60-year-old man, identified as Ajayi Femi, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the case was first reported by the survivor’s sister at Meiran Police Station on August 22, 2025, before being transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for further investigation.
Findings by the Gender Unit, including medical examinations, revealed that the suspect had allegedly spiked the victim’s drink, rendering her unconscious, before having unlawful sexual intercourse with her without consent. The police confirmed that Femi also made a confessional statement during interrogation.
He has since been charged to court and remanded in custody, pending the next adjourned date.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences. He further urged residents to report all cases of sexual assault to the Family Support Units across divisions and area commands for immediate action.
