POWA President Promises Better Welfare for Police Widows, Orphans

Slates Visits to Imo, Abia State Commands

The President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Egbetokun, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of police widows and orphans across Nigeria. Speaking today during a strategic meeting with senior police officers at the POWA Secretariat in Abuja, Mrs. Egbetokun outlined her vision to uplift vulnerable members of the police community in 2025.  

Announcing a familiarization tour beginning with the Imo and Abia State Police Commands on January 16, Mrs. Egbetokun revealed plans to introduce new empowerment programs and expand existing welfare initiatives. These measures aim to provide sustainable support for the families of fallen officers and indigent children of police personnel in the six geopolitical zones of the country.  

“The welfare of police widows and orphans remains a top priority for this administration,” she stated. “Our goal is to alleviate the challenges faced by these families and ensure they receive the support they deserve. We also seek to foster stronger collaborations with the Nigeria Police Force and other stakeholders to address their needs comprehensively.”  

The familiarization tour will include interactions with POWA members, community leaders, and beneficiaries of the association’s initiatives in Imo and Abia States. During the visit, Mrs. Egbetokun is expected to unveil targeted welfare programs designed to improve living conditions for police widows and their families.  

This marks the first phase of her nationwide outreach, which aims to strengthen ties between POWA and local communities while assessing the impact of the association’s ongoing projects.  

POWA remains dedicated to its mission of supporting police families, with a renewed focus on education, skill acquisition, and financial assistance programs in 2025.
