Ogun Police Families Receive ₦37.9m Group Life Assurance Payout

Families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Ogun State have received ₦37,913,081.77 in financial support under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme.

The cheques were presented at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The presentation was carried out by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Oliver Ezirim along members of the Command Management Team.

The ceremony opened with a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased officers.

Speaking during the presentation, DCP Ezirim reaffirmed the IGP’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families. He acknowledged that the financial assistance could not replace the lives lost but said it demonstrated the Force’s appreciation of the officers’ sacrifices and its responsibility to their families.

Representing the beneficiaries, Mrs John Shito expressed appreciation to the IGP and the Ogun State Police Command for the intervention, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously for the welfare and sustenance of the affected families.

The Command reiterated that families of fallen officers remain part of the police family, stressing that the sacrifices of officers who died in the line of duty would continue to be recognised and honoured.

The development underscores the importance of welfare and institutional support for families left behind by security personnel who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
