An impromptu rally swept through major streets of Oke-Ira, Aguda in Ogba, Ikeja, as residents, youth leaders, and political stakeholders turned out in large numbers to declare solidarity support for Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, Ajala Ganiyu Olawale, popularly known as AGO.
The spontaneous procession, led by youth leaders alongside local government legislators and community figures from Oke-Ira, signaled a growing grassroots momentum ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election slated for May 20, 2026. Participants described the rally as an expression of their fundamental right to choose credible representation and a call for change within the constituency.
Speaking during the rally, the Deputy Leader of the House and Councillor representing Ward D, Hon. Ogunnoiki Remonik, stated that the youth are determined to deliver victory for Oke-Ira, describing the turnout as a strong indication of imminent success at the polls.
Also addressing supporters, Ward C Councillor, Hon. Omoilu, emphasized the importance of political participation, urging residents to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and APC membership cards. He noted that the visible enthusiasm reflects a resilient and proactive electorate ready to support “their own son.”
Youth leader, Chief Azeez, commended the unity and determination of the young people, describing Ajala as a grassroots politician deeply connected to the community. He affirmed that the constituency seeks representation built on service, not personal gain, stressing that “we will be at work, not at war.”
Echoing similar sentiments, a former councillor highlighted Ajala’s accessibility and longstanding support for residents, contrasting it with what he described as the unresponsiveness of the incumbent. He urged the community to rally behind a candidate who remains reachable and committed to their welfare.
Caught unaware by the scale of the rally, Ajala expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming show of love and support. Speaking to journalists at his residence in Oke-Ira, he revealed that he had been preparing for another engagement when he was alerted to the gathering in his honour.
Describing himself as a true son of the soil with over four decades of connection to the community, Ajala reiterated his commitment to service. He noted that his journey into politics was inspired by a desire to positively impact lives, having already contributed through legal support and community engagement over the years.
He urged constituents to actively participate in the upcoming APC primaries and the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in victory. “Our decisions shape our future,” he said, while appreciating supporters for their trust and encouragement.
The rally train moved through several streets including Ayo Alabi, Irepodun, Otunola, Ira Ogben Fako Estate, Oke-Ira Adeyeni Alao, Ondo, Abdulahi, Bintu, and Oduroye, among others, before culminating at Ajala’s residence, where he addressed supporters.
The event, marked by chants, music, and widespread participation, underscored a significant build-up of political energy within Ikeja Constituency 2, as stakeholders continue to mobilize ahead of the decisive primaries.
