A woman identified as wife to Mr Temitope Akinsete has staged a one-woman protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital, demanding to know the whereabouts of her husband, who has been missing for a week.
According to Mrs. Akinsete, her husband, Temitope Akinsete an operative of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), left home last week after receiving a call from the Amotekun Commander inviting him for what was described as a “peaceful meeting.”
Speaking tearfully during the protest, which took place on Monday at the entrance of the Amotekun Headquarters in Akure, she said her husband had not returned home since the day he honoured the invitation.
“It’s been one week now since my husband left the house. He told me he was going to meet with the commander after receiving a call from the office. Since then, we have neither seen him nor heard from him. His phone has been unreachable, and nobody from the corps can tell me where he is,” she lamented.
Mrs. Akinsete, who carried placards calling for justice and truth, urged the Ondo State Government and security authorities to investigate her husband’s sudden disappearance and ensure his safe return.
Eyewitnesses who observed the protest said the distressed woman stood for hours under the sun, demanding answers and calling for public support.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of the Amotekun Corps had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
The development has sparked concern among residents and human rights advocates, who are calling for a transparent investigation into the matter.
