Wema Bank Launches #MyTeacherMyHero Challenge to Honor Exceptional Educators
In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, Wema Bank has launched the #MyTeacherMyHero Challenge, an initiative aimed at recognizing and rewarding outstanding educators across Nigeria. The challenge aligns with the global theme, “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” and underscores Wema Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and honoring teachers who make a lasting impact.
Abimbola Agbejule, Wema Bank’s Head of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility, emphasized the bank’s dedication to uplifting the education sector. “At Wema Bank, we believe that education is more than just a service—it is the foundation of our future. Through the #MyTeacherMyHero Challenge, we want to celebrate the educators who have shaped lives and contributed immensely to the development of their students,” she stated.
The challenge encourages students, alumni, and parents to nominate teachers who have made a profound impact on their lives. Participants are invited to share a one-minute video on social media platforms, explaining how their nominated teacher has inspired them, tagging @WemaBank and using the hashtag #MyTeacherMyHeroByWema.
The competition, which began on October 7, 2024, will run until October 18, 2024, and aims to bring attention to the invaluable role of educators. Wema Bank will announce the top three winning teachers on October 25, 2024, with plans to reward them for their remarkable contributions.
This initiative not only celebrates teachers but also highlights Wema Bank’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, particularly in education, personal development, and community engagement. Through this challenge, the bank reaffirms its belief in the importance of investing in education as a pathway to a sustainable future.
