At the closing ceremony of a two-day joint security training held at the Nigerian Police College Ikeja, the Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA and Patron of SocietalConcerns, Jimoh Olawale Saliu, called on Nigerians from all walks of life to support initiatives aimed at strengthening national security.
Addressing participants and dignitaries, Hon. Saliu commended the efforts of the Societal Concerns Organization for organizing what he described as a timely and impactful training programme. He emphasized that security should not be left solely in the hands of government, but must be seen as a collective responsibility of all citizens.
“Security is not meant to be left to government alone; it is everybody’s business,” he stated, reiterating his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property within his jurisdiction.
Highlighting his proactive approach, the council chairman revealed that representatives from his local government participated in the training, adding that plans are underway to further equip them. “As part of our support, when we donate official security vehicles, drones will accompany them to enhance operational efficiency,” he assured.
Hon. Saliu also paid tribute to the dedication of uniformed personnel present at the event, including senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, acknowledging the presence of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), the Police Training Commander, the ACP, and other security stakeholders.

In a moment of recognition, he praised the President of SocietalConcerns, Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi, describing her as “a lady doing what a man cannot do.” He recalled her commitment to national service, citing her engagement in security advocacy efforts in Zamfara State as widely reported in the media

.
“My dream is for you to go far,” he added, urging other privileged Nigerians to emulate her dedication by supporting the organization. He noted that this marks approximately the fourth major security-focused project executed by SocietalConcerns, underscoring its consistency in promoting safety and collaboration among security agencies.

Further shedding light on the initiative, Hon. Saliu revealed that the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) used during the training were rented, highlighting the need for greater financial and institutional support to sustain such impactful programmes.
“Security of life and property should be our collective concern. In any area I can support SocietalConcerns, I will not hesitate to do so,” he affirmed.

The training, which brought together personnel from various security agencies, is part of ongoing efforts by SocietalConcerns to enhance capacity, foster inter-agency collaboration, and introduce modern technology into Nigeria’s security architecture.
