Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief, Recover Stolen Vehicle
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have apprehended a suspected vehicle thief and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry, 2013 model, in the Alausa Central Business District, Ikeja.
The suspect, identified as Ada Joseph, 27, a former employee of the vehicle’s owner, was arrested on Wednesday in possession of the black Camry. Acting on credible intelligence, RRS operatives tracked the suspect and intercepted the stolen car.
According to police reports, Ada Joseph stole the vehicle at approximately 7:00 a.m. on the same day from the Osapa London area of Lekki. He then drove it to Ikeja, intending to sell the car to a waiting buyer. However, he was apprehended by law enforcement at around 11:00 a.m.
Investigations revealed that Ada had been employed by the vehicle’s owner for about a year before being dismissed in June 2024. The suspect confessed to having made a duplicate of the car key prior to his termination. He further disclosed that he planned to use the proceeds from the sale of the stolen vehicle to finance his father’s burial.
