PCRC National Chairman Leads Delegation to Welcome Osun CP, Unveils Safe School Initiative
The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Aramide Olaniyan, on Friday, September 11, 2026, led a high-powered delegation of the Committee on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, at the State Police Command, Osogbo.
The visit was aimed at formally welcoming the new Commissioner of Police to Osun State following his assumption of duty, strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Police and the PCRC, and introducing the PCRC Safe School Initiative to the Osun State Police Command.
A major highlight of the engagement was the presentation and official handover of a camera procured by the PCRC Osun State Command to the Commissioner of Police for use by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)’s Office.
The gesture, according to the Committee, is intended to enhance the capacity of the PPRO’s Office for effective police-public communication, media engagement, documentation and dissemination of timely information, particularly in support of the Safe School Initiative.
Receiving the PCRC National Chairman and members of his delegation, CP Ibrahim Zungura expressed delight at the visit and warmly welcomed the Committee to the Command.
The Commissioner pledged his personal involvement in the PCRC Safe School Initiative, assuring the Committee that he would make personal contributions towards the success of the programme in Osun State.
CP Zungura described the initiative as a laudable and timely intervention capable of contributing significantly to the safety and protection of pupils, students, teachers and other members of the school community.
He stressed that safeguarding schools requires sustained collaboration among security agencies, community stakeholders, parents, teachers and other relevant institutions.
The Commissioner also reassured members of the public that his office would remain open and accessible to the people. He emphasized that the Police Command is a public institution and that members of the public have the right to access and engage with the leadership of the Command.
CP Zungura further pledged to maintain his partnership with the PCRC wherever he might be posted in the course of his career. He commended the Committee for its contributions to police-community relations, community policing, public safety, police welfare and the promotion of mutual understanding between the Police and members of the public.
