Governor Soludo Flags Off Massive Road Projects in Nnewi and Oraifite
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development with the official flag-off of two major road projects: the 10.8km Nkwo Nnewi to Nkwo Oraifite Road and the 5.8km Oraifite Civic Centre-Afiauzo-Akwukwu-Owerri-Onitsha Road.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the Oraifite Civic Centre, was met with jubilation from residents, traders, and community leaders who have long yearned for better road connectivity. These roads are expected to enhance economic activities, improve transportation for businesses, and provide relief from flooding and erosion—two major challenges that have plagued the area for years.
The newly approved roads will be constructed with modern drainage systems to prevent flooding and solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety and facilitate 24-hour business operations. According to Izuchukwu Adichie, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, the roads are part of a larger vision to transform Anambra into a thriving commercial hub, aligning with Soludo’s Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley vision for the state.
For local traders and residents, this project is a long-awaited relief. Mr. Emeka Okonkwo, a trader at Nkwo Market, expressed his excitement:
“For years, we’ve struggled with bad roads and flooding. This project will make it easier for customers to reach us and for us to transport our goods. It is a game-changer.”
Similarly, Mrs. Nkechi Eze, a resident of Oraifite, emphasized the developmental impact of the road:
“This road will bring development to our community. We are grateful to Governor Soludo for fulfilling this promise.”
