GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS NEWLY REHABILITATED IKOYI CLUB 1938 ROAD: A SYMBOL OF INFRASTRUCTURAL PROGRESS

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, officially commissioned the newly rehabilitated Ikoyi Club 1938 Road, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and urban renewal in the state. The landmark event, held at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938, was graced by notable dignitaries, including former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, and other key stakeholders.

The rehabilitation of the Ikoyi Club 1938 Road represents yet another milestone in the Sanwo-Olu administration’s drive to enhance road infrastructure, ease vehicular movement, and promote socio-economic activities in Lagos. The event witnessed the presence of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa; the Club Chairman, Mr. Tafa Zibin Aliu; the Club’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Rufia Bolagbade Ladipo; and the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, among others.

During his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the significance of the project, highlighting its impact on the business and social environment of the Ikoyi axis. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to infrastructure renewal, stating that improved road networks contribute to economic development, ease of movement, and enhanced security.

“Infrastructure is the backbone of any thriving society, and our administration is focused on ensuring that Lagosians benefit from well-maintained road networks. The rehabilitation of this road aligns with our vision of a greater Lagos, where every citizen enjoys a seamless transportation experience,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, commended the Lagos State Government for its unwavering dedication to infrastructural projects, noting that well-structured roads play a vital role in sustaining the economic prosperity of the state. He described the rehabilitation as a testament to the government’s proactive approach to urban development.

The Club Chairman, Mr. Tafa Zibin Aliu, expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for prioritizing infrastructure, especially in strategic locations such as Ikoyi. He noted that the rehabilitated road would significantly enhance access to the club and improve the overall experience of members and visitors.

The commissioning of the Ikoyi Club 1938 Road is one of several ongoing projects in Lagos aimed at improving road connectivity and easing transportation bottlenecks. Under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, the state government has continued to invest in critical road infrastructure, ensuring that Lagos remains a model for urban development in Nigeria.
