Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Addresses Misleading Information on Renewed Hope Grant for Vulnerable Groups

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation strongly condemns the misleading information circulating on social media regarding the approval and payment of N585,189,500.00 for the Renewed Hope Grant for Vulnerable Groups in four states.

The Ministry affirms that the approval followed due process, as indicated in a memo from the Ministry to the Accountant-General of the Federation. This grant is designated for the implementation of social intervention schemes in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states. Notably, the GVG initiative has already seen success in Kogi, where recipients have attested to its positive impact.

Oniyelu Bridget, the Project Accountant for GVG from the Department of Finance, is operating within the legal framework of the civil service. It is customary for the Project Accountant to be compensated using allocated funds and to provide all necessary documentation upon project or program completion.

The Ministry emphasizes that these allegations stem from malicious elements attempting to tarnish the reputation of Honourable Minister Dr Betta Edu. Her dedication to exposing the 44.8 Billion Fraud in NSIPA has triggered these baseless attacks.

The public is urged to disregard this misinformation, recognizing the Renewed Hope Grant for Vulnerable Groups as a vital social intervention initiative. The Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to transparent governance and delivering on its mandate.

Signed,

Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair (ANIPR),

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Honourable Minister
