Barrister Bayo Ayo, Director-General of a political campaign, has called on party stakeholders and supporters to fully embrace the primaries process as the legitimate pathway for selecting candidates who will represent the constituency in upcoming elections.
Speaking on the internal democratic process of the party, Ayo emphasized that primaries remain a cornerstone of participatory democracy, allowing delegates and party members to freely choose candidates of their preference without external interference.
“Taking a cue from the national leader himself, we will all go into primaries, and there, the good people of this constituency will decide who best to represent them,” he stated. “That is the beauty of democracy. We can all come together after the process to build a constituency of our dreams.”
Ayo’s remarks come at a time when political activities are gaining momentum within party structures ahead of forthcoming elections. He noted that internal contests should not be seen as divisive, but rather as a healthy exercise that strengthens democratic values and promotes inclusivity.
He further urged aspirants and their supporters to maintain decorum throughout the primaries, encouraging them to prioritize issue-based campaigns over personal attacks or divisive rhetoric.
According to him, unity after the primaries is critical to the success of any political party, as it ensures that all stakeholders rally behind the chosen candidate to secure victory at the general elections.
Ayo reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful and transparent process, adding that his campaign would continue to engage stakeholders in ways that foster mutual respect, collaboration, and long-term development goals for the constituency.
He concluded by reiterating that the ultimate objective is not individual ambition, but collective progress, stressing that a united front after the primaries would position the party for success and effective representation.
