The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, announcing the arrest of a wanted cultist, two murder suspects, and an armed robber in separate incidents.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed these developments during a press briefing on Monday at the Command’s headquarters.
In a major breakthrough, the police arrested a notorious cultist, Ibrahim Toheed, also known as ‘Baale’, a 26-year-old who has long been on the Command’s wanted list for his involvement in several cult-related killings.
“Toheed was apprehended on Saturday, March 8, at Fagba Junction by our operatives,” Hundeyin revealed. “During a search, illicit substances suspected to be hard drugs were found in his possession.”
The police assured that Toheed remains in custody as investigations continue, with further efforts underway to dismantle cult networks operating in the state.
In a separate incident, the Command also arrested Paul Digha (33) and Sunday Olukoya (age yet to be confirmed) in connection with the death of Dorothy Emmanuel (25) during a violent altercation at NPA Road, Victoria Island.
Hundeyin explained that the police received a distress call about a physical confrontation involving the three men.
“Dorothy sustained severe injuries during the fight and was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” Hundeyin stated.
The two suspects were promptly arrested at the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the altercation and the victim’s death is ongoing.
The Command urged members of the public to avoid physical confrontations, warning that “you never know the health status of the person you are fighting with.”
Furthermore, the police arrested a suspected armed robber, Shuaibu Useni (27), from Sagamu, Ogun State, on Friday, March 7, during a routine stop-and-search operation at Y Junction along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ketu.
Upon searching Useni, officers recovered a locally made revolver long gun, four expended cartridges, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.
“The suspect was immediately taken into custody, and the recovered exhibits have been registered as evidence,” Hundeyin said. “Investigations are in progress to determine his network and whether he is connected to other crimes in the area.”
The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, vowing to root out criminal elements through strategic operations and community cooperation.
The police also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency hotlines, promising swift action.
