Otto-Awori LCDA Chairman, Prince Musbau Ashafa, is Dead
Prince Musbau Ashafa, the Executive Chairman of Otto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, has passed away.
The respected grassroots politician died late Friday, June 13, 2025, after battling an undisclosed illness for several months.
Ashafa, a prominent prince of the Ijanikin Kingdom, had been noticeably absent from public functions in recent times. In his stead, many of the council’s official activities had been overseen by his Chief of Staff and younger brother, Waliu Ashafa.
Prince Ashafa was serving his second term as the council chairman. Prior to that, he held the position of Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otto-Awori LCDA. His political journey, however, began much earlier.
He first rose to political prominence in 1997 during the military regime of the late General Sani Abacha, when he was elected Chairman of the defunct Ojo Local Government under the Zero Party system. Since then, he remained a key political figure in the Ojo axis of Lagos State, contributing significantly to grassroots development and party leadership.
His passing marks the end of an era for Otto-Awori and leaves a notable gap in Lagos’ local government leadership.
