Oyin Aroloye Gender Empowerment Initiative Trains Over 100 Women, Supports Widows in Akure
Akure, Ondo State – The August edition of the Oyin Aroloye Gender Empowerment Initiative recorded another milestone as more than 100 women received training and empowerment in various entrepreneurial skills, with widows also benefiting from special financial support to start up small-scale businesses.
The event, held in Akure, attracted a distinguished line-up of dignitaries who applauded the initiative for its consistent role in promoting women’s empowerment and economic independence across Ondo State.
Among the special guests present were Prince Kayode Aroloye, a great supporter of the initiative; Hon. Banji Ajaka, Commissioner for Health; Hon. Afolabi Adesoji, Commissioner for Culture; Hon. Prince Ologbese Boye, former Commissioner for Integration and Diaspora; Hon. Tomide Akinribido, Senior Special Assistant on ICT; and Hon. Olamide Falana, former Special Adviser on Gender, among several others.
Speaking at the event, the convener, Oyin Aroloye, emphasized that the initiative is committed to equipping women with practical skills, financial literacy, and startup support to enable them to thrive in today’s challenging economy. She noted that widows were given special consideration this month, receiving both vocational training and cash grants to begin small-scale ventures as a pathway to financial stability.
In his remarks, Prince Kayode Aroloye commended the programme’s sustainability and impact, describing it as “a beacon of hope for women and families in Ondo State.” Other dignitaries also urged beneficiaries to maximize the opportunities provided and, in turn, become agents of empowerment in their communities.
The initiative continues to gain recognition for its grassroots approach to gender empowerment, bridging the gap for women, widows, and vulnerable groups through skill acquisition, mentorship, and financial support.
