2027: NNPP Warns Tinubu Against Second Term Bid

The Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP,  Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa , has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reconsider his policies or face defeat in the 2027 general elections if he decides to run for a second term.

Dungurawa, speaking to journalists in Kano on Thursday, criticized what he described as the president’s “harsh and anti-masses policies,” which he said have alienated Nigerians since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

“With these your harsh anti-masses policies, and your stance on them, just prepare for defeat in the next general elections. You either change them, or we Nigerians together will change you,” Dungurawa stated.

The NNPP chairman expressed confidence in his party’s chances, predicting a sweeping victory across all 36 states and the presidential election in 2027. He claimed that Nigerians are aligning themselves with the NNPP, viewing it as a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“From the podium on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu started reeling out anti-masses policies, and as if we offended him, he kept slamming such policies on us up till today,” Dungurawa said. “Therefore, with these problems and many more created by the APC government, it is just a matter of time before we ensure that Tinubu is out in 2027 and Kwankwaso, a true democrat, comes in.”

He highlighted NNPP’s achievements in recent years, noting that the party has established structures across states and local governments nationwide, positioning itself as a formidable force for the next election cycle.

Dungurawa also praised the efforts of Kano State’s NNPP governor in transforming the state, stating, “Kano can now compete with any modern city globally, especially with the state-of-the-art facilities made available in metropolitan and rural areas.”

However, the NNPP chairman voiced concerns over alleged moves by the Federal Government to create a one-party system in Nigeria. He urged the government to prioritize introducing policies that would alleviate the suffering of Nigerians rather than stifling opposition parties.

Dungurawa dismissed rumors of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the NNPP, defecting to the APC, calling it a baseless attempt to tarnish his image.

As the 2027 elections approach, the NNPP has positioned itself as a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration, signaling its readiness to challenge the status quo and offer Nigerians what it describes as “a true democratic alternative.”
