IGP Deploys 38 Commissioners of Police to Enhance Security Nationwide
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved the immediate deployment of 38 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various State Commands and Police Formations across the country in a strategic move to bolster security.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on March 21, 2025, the deployment consists of 9 CPs assigned to key state commands, while 29 CPs have been posted to different police formations.
New CPs for State Commands
The newly assigned Commissioners of Police for various states are:
- Zamfara State – CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba
- Taraba State – CP Bretet Emmanuel Simon
- Yobe State – CP Christopher Ado Emmanuel
- Cross River State – CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin
- Niger State – CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman
- Bauchi State – CP Sani Omolori Aliyu
- Katsina State – CP Bello Shehu
- Federal Capital Territory (FCT) – CP Saka Adewale Ajao
- Kwara State – CP Ojo Adekimi
The deployment of 29 additional CPs to various police formations aims to enhance the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) operational efficiency, ensuring effective policing strategies tailored to community needs.
Strengthening Intelligence-Led Policing
The IGP has tasked the newly deployed officers with curbing insecurity, preventing police misconduct, and strengthening intelligence-led policing across the country. This strategic deployment reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to tackling rising security challenges through proactive measures and community-driven policing.
The newly appointed CPs are expected to hit the ground running, implementing targeted security strategies in their respective jurisdictions to reinforce law and order and improve public safety.
