Breaking: How Expired Cadbury Candy Nearly Claims Passenger’s Life on Badagry Road ( Video )

A shocking incident occurred yesterday when a passenger traveling to Badagry purchased a pack of expired Cadbury Camel Coffee-Flavored candy from a roadside hawker, leading to a near-fatal situation. The product, with an expiration date of August 6, 2024, had unknowingly expired, posing a severe health hazard.

According to eyewitnesses, the passenger consumed two pieces of the candy and immediately began to choke, struggling to breathe and losing consciousness. Fellow passengers quickly came to her aid, offering her a drink, which helped restore her condition.

The seller of the expired candy, identified as Ayomide Adedokun, was traced and admitted to having bought two cartons of the expired product from a supplier just a day before the incident. The supplier remains atlarge , raising serious concerns about the circulation of expired goods in the market.

This alarming event highlights the dangers posed by expired food products and the need for stronger regulation and enforcement to protect public health. It also sheds light on the societal menace of unscrupulous business practices that prioritize profit over the safety of consumers.

Authorities have been urged to investigate the source of the expired candies and ensure that both the supplier and the seller face appropriate legal action. Public awareness campaigns have also been called for to educate the public on the dangers of consuming expired products and the importance of checking expiration dates before purchase.

In light of this incident, it is essential for regulatory bodies like NAFDAC to intensify their surveillance efforts and clamp down on the distribution of expired food items, especially those sold by unregulated hawkers.

Public health remains at stake, and incidents like this serve as a wake-up call for immediate action to prevent future occurrences.
