The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Lagos State Chapter, has named Professor Abigail Ndisika Ogwezzy as its Iconic Woman of the Month for April 2026.

The recognition, awarded under the NAWOJ Lagos Woman of the Month initiative, celebrates women who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and impactful contributions to societal development.

Prof. Ogwezzy, a distinguished scholar in the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, was honoured for her remarkable contributions to media education and scholarship, as well as her influence on generations of students and media professionals.

Speaking on the recognition, NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson, Jumoke Johnson, commended Prof. Ogwezzy’s dedication to academic excellence, mentorship, and advocacy, noting her significant role in advancing communication studies and empowering women in the media space.

The Association described the honour as well-deserved, applauding her sustained contributions to education, media development, and national growth.

NAWOJ Lagos reaffirmed its commitment to celebrating women who inspire excellence and drive positive change across society.
