Apapa Customs Sets New Daily Revenue Record
With remarkable achievement, the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS has shattered previous records by generating a staggering 16,021,660,412.00 naira in revenue on February 23, 2024. This historic milestone surpasses the previous daily revenue collections of 11.3 billion naira in November 2023 and 10 billion naira in August 2023.

According to a statement released by CSC Abubakar Usman, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, this extraordinary accomplishment was announced by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba. Jaiyeoba attributed this success to the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue collection and ensuring compliance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act NCSA 2023.
Under Jaiyeoba’s leadership, the command has embraced weekly strategy meetings and increased stakeholder engagements with government agencies, importers, exporters, and terminal operators. These efforts have facilitated a significant improvement in container scanning operations, aligning with modern customs administration standards.
The CAC commended the dedication and integrity exhibited by the officers of the command, emphasizing the importance of sincere declaration in facilitating trade and saving time and money for all stakeholders. Jaiyeoba urged importers, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders to embrace scanning procedures, underscoring the NCS’s commitment to leveraging technology for trade facilitation.
Furthermore, Jaiyeoba highlighted the benefits of sincere declaration, including fast-track processing and the possibility of attaining Authorised Economic Operator, AEO status. He emphasized that dishonest declaration could result in delays and financial penalties, urging stakeholders to prioritize integrity in their business practices.
