House of Assembly Aspirant Honoured at “Lagos Where Legends Are Made” Ceremony
LAGOS, Nigeria — Prominent grassroots politician and community development advocate, Barrister Ajala Olawale Ganiyu (AGO), has been honoured with the Eko Awards 2026 for Excellence, in recognition of his enduring contributions to grassroots development and philanthropic service across Lagos State.
The prestigious award, themed “Lagos Where Legends Are Made,” celebrates individuals whose commitment to public service, community empowerment, and societal development has left a lasting impact on the lives of Lagos residents.
AGO, a respected legal practitioner and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, received the honour amid applause from political leaders, professionals, community stakeholders, and admirers who described the recognition as a fitting tribute to years of selfless service.
According to the organisers, the award acknowledges AGO’s unwavering dedication to grassroots development, humanitarian interventions, youth empowerment, and his consistent support for vulnerable members of society. They noted that his philanthropic initiatives and people-oriented leadership have continued to inspire many within and beyond his immediate constituency.
The recognition also comes months after AGO demonstrated what political observers described as exemplary party loyalty during the APC’s internal political process ahead of the Lagos State House of Assembly elections.
As an aspirant for the Ikeja Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, AGO voluntarily stepped down by consensus in support of the incumbent lawmaker, placing party unity and collective progress above personal ambition.
Political stakeholders have praised the decision as a rare demonstration of discipline, maturity, and commitment to the ideals of the APC, noting that such sacrifices contribute to strengthening internal democracy and cohesion within the party.

Speaking after receiving the award, AGO expressed gratitude to the organisers for recognising his efforts and dedicated the honour to the people whose support and encouragement have inspired his journey in public service.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving humanity, promoting community development, and supporting initiatives that improve the welfare of residents, stressing that leadership is fundamentally about service, compassion, and creating opportunities for others.
“I see this award not as a personal achievement but as an encouragement to continue doing more for the people. Service to humanity remains my greatest motivation, and I will continue to support initiatives that uplift our communities and inspire hope,” he said.
Community leaders and supporters who attended the event described AGO as a bridge-builder whose accessibility, generosity, and commitment to grassroots development have earned him widespread respect across Ikeja and beyond.
The Eko Awards 2026 further cements Barrister Ajala Olawale Ganiyu’s growing reputation as a community-focused leader whose influence extends beyond politics, reflecting a legacy built on philanthropy, unity, and service to the people.
