Femicide: Husband Arrested for Gender-Based Violence Against Wife
The Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba Division has taken swift action following a report of a severe case of gender-based violence involving a housewife and her husband. The incident, which occurred in the Ring Road community, led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, identified as Mr. Sholola Kazeem.
According to reports received at about 12:20 p.m. on January 18, 2025, Mr. Kazeem allegedly attacked his wife, Mrs. Sholola Mutiat, during a domestic dispute. In a fit of uncontrollable anger, the suspect reportedly poured hot oil on his wife’s body and inflicted further harm by stabbing her in the head.
The victim was immediately rushed to Ore Ofé Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries. Law enforcement officers examined the crime scene and initiated an investigation. The suspect, who was promptly apprehended, remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The Ogun State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating domestic violence and protecting vulnerable individuals within the community.
