Verdant Zeal’s 14th Innovation Series to Explore Global Export of African Culture Through Entertainment

Industry leaders Efe Omoregbe and Obi Asika to examine the commercial potential of Africa’s creative industries

Leading marketing communications group, Verdant Zeal Group Limited, is set to host the 14th edition of its annual flagship thought-leadership platform, the Innovention Series, with a focus on the growing global influence and economic potential of African culture.

The virtual roundtable, scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026, will be held under the theme, “Culture as Currency: Exporting African Identity Through Entertainment.” It will bring together leading voices in entertainment, lifestyle, arts and culture to examine how African music, film, fashion, media and other creative industries are shaping global narratives and opening up new economic opportunities.

The 2026 edition will feature two distinguished industry figures: Efe Omoregbe, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Now Muzik and Buckwyld Media Network, and Obi Asika, Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture.

The speakers are expected to explore the commercial value of cultural expression, emerging opportunities within Africa’s entertainment ecosystem, and how creative professionals can leverage authentic storytelling to expand their influence and reach international audiences.

Since its maiden edition in 2012, the Innovention Series has provided a platform for thought leadership, critical conversations and fresh perspectives on Africa’s development. Over the years, it has challenged conventional thinking and encouraged discussions around ideas capable of driving progress across the public and private sectors.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group and Convener of the Innovention Series, said this year’s conversation was particularly relevant as African culture continues to influence international conversations, trends and markets.

According to him, culture should be viewed beyond its role as a marker of identity and creative expression, but also as an economic asset with the capacity to stimulate enterprise, create employment and strengthen Africa’s position in the global economy.

Olugbodi explained that the series would examine how music, film, fashion, media and other creative sectors could translate cultural influence into sustainable economic value.

He added that the conversation would seek to inspire meaningful engagement at the intersection of culture, commerce and creativity, while identifying practical pathways towards building a sustainable and globally competitive African creative industry.

The event is free and open to participants, who are required to register ahead of the programme through www.innoventionseries.org.
