Budget of Recovery’ Prioritizes Capital Development with N433 Billion Allocation
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, affirming his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s economy and addressing critical socio-economic challenges.
The signing ceremony, held at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Akure, was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, members of the State House of Assembly, the Executive Council, and other key stakeholders.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the N698.659 billion fiscal plan, aptly titled the “Budget of Recovery,” as a bold strategy to rebuild Ondo State’s economy. The budget allocates N433.622 billion (62.06%) to capital expenditure and N265.037 billion (37.94%) to recurrent expenditure.
“This budget reflects our commitment to the promises made during the electioneering process. Our deliberate emphasis on capital development is to jumpstart the economy and drive massive infrastructural renewal across the state,” the Governor stated.
He added, “The primary objective of this budget is to improve the lives of our people. This goal is sacrosanct and non-negotiable.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted that the budget’s formulation incorporated inputs from stakeholders across the state during town hall meetings. He emphasized that it reflects the collective aspirations of the people of Ondo State.
“Our focus remains on agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and social welfare. These allocations are investments in the lives and well-being of our residents, aimed at creating opportunities, improving livelihoods, and building a sustainable future,” he said.
The Governor announced that the budget would be made accessible on the state’s budget portal from January 1, 2025, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, commended the Governor’s unwavering dedication to advancing all critical sectors of the state. He lauded the upward revision of the budget from N655.230 billion to N698.659 billion, reflecting a determination to meet the growing needs of Ondo State.
The Speaker also praised the signing of key legislative frameworks, including the Agriculture Law, Transparency Law, Building Plans Law, and the Anti-Land Grabbing Law. “These laws signify a significant stride in fostering good governance, economic growth, and social justice,” he remarked.
Rt. Hon. Oladiji reiterated the Assembly’s support for the Governor’s developmental agenda and called on all stakeholders to work collaboratively to ensure the budget’s effective implementation.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s focus on achieving economic development, sustainable food security, resilient community development, and social inclusion.
“The 2025 budget is a critical tool for realizing the O’DATIWA O’DIRORUN (OUR EASE) goals, and its implementation will be guided by responsibility and efficiency,” the Governor assured.
This fiscal plan sets the stage for renewed growth and recovery, laying a strong foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future for Ondo State.
