The Forum of Past Councilors (FPC), Ikeja Federal Constituency Chapter, has congratulated Lola Fibisola Akande on her appointment and posting as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, describing the development as a well-deserved recognition of her years of service and dedication to national development.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the forum commended the former Lagos lawmaker and ex-commissioner for her longstanding contributions to governance and public administration, noting that her wealth of experience has prepared her for the responsibilities of diplomatic representation.
Akande previously served as a two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where she represented her constituency with distinction. She also held the position of Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives in Lagos State, playing a key role in initiatives aimed at strengthening trade, industrial growth, and cooperative development within the state.
Beyond state governance, Akande also served as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia, where she contributed to institutional development and strategic leadership within the education sector.
The forum noted that as Nigeria’s ambassador to Sweden, Akande will be responsible for representing the country’s interests in the host nation, strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade and cultural exchange, and protecting the welfare of Nigerians residing in Sweden.
According to the statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Edward Aragbonfoh, and the Secretary, Hon. Aladeyelu Azeez Adebayo, the forum expressed confidence that Akande would excel in the new role and further enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic presence.
The group also expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for what it described as a thoughtful and deserving appointment.
The Forum of Past Councilors wished Akande a successful and impactful tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, expressing optimism that her diplomatic engagement would contribute positively to Nigeria’s international relations and national interests.
