Federal Government Finalizes Evacuation Plans for Nigerians in Israel and Iran Amid Escalating Tensions
In response to the escalating hostilities between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it is finalizing emergency evacuation plans for Nigerian citizens stranded in both countries.
This development was made public in a press release issued on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. The Ministry emphasized that efforts are underway to ensure the timely and safe repatriation of Nigerians affected by the ongoing crisis.
“All affected Nigerian citizens are therefore strongly advised to abide by necessary security protocols and contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions,” the statement read.
The Ministry also commended the dedication of Nigerian diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their proactive engagement with the Nigerian communities in both nations during these challenging times.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare and security of its citizens abroad, the statement noted that Nigeria is working in close coordination with relevant international partners and local authorities to ensure the secure evacuation of nationals from the conflict zones.
In addition to its evacuation plans, Nigeria renewed its call for the immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Iran. The government urged all parties involved to prioritize dialogue, uphold international humanitarian law, and protect civilian lives.
“Nigeria stands firm in its support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirms its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability,” the Ministry stated.
Further updates on the evacuation process will be provided through official government channels as operations progress.
