Lagos Police Probe Viral Video of Excel College Students in Hostel Party
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a full investigation into a viral video showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, Lagos, engaging in drinking, smoking, and dancing inside the boys’ hostel.
Although the incident reportedly took place in April 2025, the video only surfaced online recently, sparking widespread public outrage and condemnation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the case from the Ejigbo Police Division. This follows the invitation of the school’s principal, who also serves as proprietor.
The principal informed investigators that the students featured in the viral footage had already graduated from the school. However, the school management is cooperating with the SCID to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure such misconduct is not repeated within the institution.
The Command has emphasized that the outcome of the investigation will be made public.
Meanwhile, the police are urging school authorities, parents, and guardians across Lagos to strengthen supervision of their wards and instill moral discipline. They noted that preventing acts of indiscipline in schools is essential to safeguarding peace and order in society.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and lawfulness across the state.
