Passengers Stranded on Akure Road as Fuel Scarcity Worsens

Travelers along Akure Road faced significant disruptions today as fuel scarcity left many stranded in a situation that escalated into widespread frustration. Passengers who hoped to refuel at the Northwest Fuel Station in Akure were left disappointed after a sudden halt in fuel sales.

Long queues of vehicles, some lining up as early as 3 a.m., stretched through the state as drivers awaited their turn to purchase fuel. The station began dispensing fuel at 8 a.m., charging ₦650 per liter, but just two hours later, the management abruptly stopped selling.

According to eye witness,  the station’s management claimed they received directives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to halt sales and adjust the pump price to ₦1,200 per liter. This sudden shift left many drivers and passengersare stranded, unable to continue their journeys.

The situation has sparked widespread frustration among travelers, with many expressing their anger at the unexpected price hike and the lack of fuel availability. Some passengers have been forced to wait indefinitely, while others have sought alternative means of transportation.

This development is yet another blow to travelers amid an ongoing fuel scarcity that has plagued various parts of the country, leading to disruptions in daily activities and increased transportation costs. As the situation unfolds, many are left wondering when relief will come and at what cost.
