The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two notorious Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), for allegedly leading a vicious kidnapping gang operating in the state. This breakthrough aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to stamp out kidnapping and violent crimes across Nigeria.
The arrests followed a distress call received by the Ikeja Division on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, regarding the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani man within the Ikeja area. Acting swiftly, the anti-crime patrol team rescued the victim and arrested two of the captors, while five other Pakistani suspects remain at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed a calculated plot by the suspects, who lured the victim from his base in Kano under the false pretense of securing a chef job for him in Lagos. The gang not only booked his flight but also lodged him in a hotel on February 28, 2025. The next day, the seven suspects overpowered him, bound his hands and legs, and sent a chilling ransom demand to his employer in Kano — threatening to kill the victim unless a sum of ₦50 million was paid.
In a bid to buy time, the victim’s employer transferred ₦1 million three days later and immediately alerted the police.
Items recovered from the arrested suspects include:
- Their operational vehicle — a grey Toyota Camry
- The victim’s $2,000 cash
- Three ATM cards
- A green card
- The victim’s driver’s license and NIN slip
Efforts are ongoing to track down the five fleeing members of the gang, with the police assuring that all suspects will face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the rescued victim is reportedly in good condition and has reconnected with his family.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the swift response and professionalism of the Ikeja Division officers and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Lagos State.
For further updates, the public is encouraged to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities.
