Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Strategizes for 2025 Fiscal Year at 3-Day Retreat

Mitros Residences, Abeokuta, came alive as Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government hosted a 3-day retreat aimed at planning and aligning strategies for the 2025 fiscal year. The event, held from November 18th to 20th, 2024, brought together key government officials and staff for capacity building, budget planning, and the celebration of excellence within the workforce.  

The retreat featured a robust lineup of lectures and workshops facilitated by seasoned experts. Mr. Onawoga Wasiu delivered an in-depth session on Mechanisms of Procurement Operations, emphasizing the importance of transparency and efficiency in procurement processes. Dr. Shittu Ayodele inspired participants with his lecture, “Navigating Career Paths in Local Government,”which focused on growth opportunities for staff. Hon. Tunde Rufai provided practical strategies in his session on Expanding Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),  stressing innovative ways to boost local government finances.  

Participants also engaged in intensive discussions on the 2025 budget, focusing on sustainable growth and enhanced service delivery for the benefit of Ifako-Ijaiye residents.  

In his keynote address, the Executive Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), called for renewed dedication and teamwork among staff. He emphasized the importance of innovation and a collective effort in achieving the administration’s development agenda.  

The retreat also provided an opportunity to recognize excellence within the workforce. During the Award and Recognition Ceremony, outstanding staff members were celebrated for their dedication during the 2024 fiscal year. Distinguished leaders were honored with Awards of Excellence for their significant contributions to the administration’s success. Notable awardees included:  

– Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat- Executive Chairman  

– Hon. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele – Vice-Chairman  

– Hon. Fasusi Kolawole A (Mr. Bachel) – Secretary to the Local Government  

– Alhaji Akeem Adesanya – Council Manager  

– Mrs. Morenike Babs-Ogunleye – Council Treasurer  

– Pastor Ayo Jeje – Revenue Committee Chairman  

– Hon. Waheed Agbeniga – Special Adviser on Budget and Planning  

The retreat concluded with a vibrant Gala Night, where participants celebrated the milestones achieved during the sessions and fostered camaraderie among staff.  

This initiative underscores Prince Hamzat’s dedication to building capacity, promoting efficient governance, and prioritizing the welfare of Ifako-Ijaiye residents. The strategies developed during the retreat have set the tone for a productive and impactful 2025 fiscal year.
