The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu underscored the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” as a resounding call to action. She urged for collective efforts to equip women with education, resources, and opportunities to unleash their full potential, viewing such investment not as charity but as a strategic imperative for Nigeria’s future.
Additionally, Kano State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Children, and the Disabled, Hajiya Aisha Saji, disclosed plans to empower over a thousand women across the state’s local government areas with grants and support services, including survivors of gender-based violence and women living with HIV/AIDS. Saji affirmed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing welfare packages for vulnerable populations and intensifying efforts to reduce infant and maternal mortality through continuous sensitization programs.
